These are a few important things to consider when putting together a newsletter:

• Recommended width: 600px
• Background image is only possible over the entire body of the newsletter, not for single elements (otherwise this element has to be saved as an image)
• Use web-safe fonts
• Do not use any ‘absolute position’ elements
• It is not possible to implement CSS3 attributes (border radius, box shadow, an alternative to a background image)

Images and graphics break up big blocks of text and make the newsletter easier to read.

It is therefore best to choose a layout that has a balanced relationship between images and text. Do not bog down your reader with too much text or with paragraphs that contain no full stops or commas.

Use emphatic images and graphics, yet without sending something that looks like a photo album.  To attain a good recall value, match the colours and fonts to your corporate design and do not change the layout of your email too frequently.
